- Total Loss over $500 million
- 8.3% increase in total reported loss since 2011
- Average dollar loss for those reporting loss over $4,500
- 43% of complainants in 40 – 59 age group

- FBI Impersonation E-mail Scams — over 14,000 complaints totaling over $4.6 million in losses (40% more men reported complaints than women)
- Intimidation/Extortion Scams — over 8,000 complaints totaling almost $11 million in losses (60% more women reported complaints than men)
- Hit man scams continue (where emailer portrays him/herself as a hit man demanding money not to execute contract) — over 1,300 complaints. Uptick in social media use in executing this scam
